I have been on xanga and now that it might soon end on July 15 I decided to go back to blogging on Blogger.

A thought idea I did this morning:

Indoctrination vs thinking outside the box

The things you accept is due to indoctrination. Sometimes the things you accept is from the ideas of others that is designed to convince you of a sort of truth. The truth within everyone varies and in some cases is similar enough to other truths. When people have to carry out their version of the truth that is when truth is crystalized or refined.

Crystalizing the truth. Many ideas need to be tested. You test it under different conditions. Test it under different concepts and other points of view. For example the "truth" of an earth centric idea seemingly worked because people could see at least face value that the earth appeared to be steady and not moving while the sun and the moon "moved around the earth".

It is easy to see shadows are evidence that the sun is moving because the tall trees are "stationary" and the sun moves. But the puzzlement that astronomers had was predicting the movements of planets and other objects in the sky. If you sum up all movements of the planets is due to them traveling around the sun the calculations become enormously simplified instead of a super complicated dance of planets if the model of the solar system revolved around the earth.

The Catholic church had to accept their mistake eventually and the earth lost a bit of prestige and eventually even the Church admitted its mistake.
